If you are in Tenafly, New Jersey or the surrounding area please reach out to her and learn more about Summer 365, and she will be excited to chat with you about her passion: CAMP! Read more about her amazing camp experience as a camper of the 80′s and 90’s.
WHERE DID YOU GO TO CAMP?
I was a camper for 8 years at Camp Robindel, an all girls camp in New Hampshire. I was also a CIT and Counselor at Camp Pontiac, a coed camp in the New York at the foothill of the Berkshire Mountains, for 2 consecutive summers.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY DOING? HOW HAS CAMP INFLUENCED WHAT YOU DO/YOUR CAREER PATH?
I am a full-time mom of three boys. Prior to having children I was an Associate Buyer at Barneys New York. I loved what I did at the time but always wanted to raise a big family. I am so fortunate to be able to be an active part of my kids lives on a daily basis.
Pre-kids, I always dreamed of sending my children to Robindel. Since it’s an all girls camp I obviously have to explore other options for my children. Working as a Campbassador with Summer 365 was the perfect opportunity for me to get a jump start on my research for the perfect boys camp for my children. At the same it gives me great joy and pleasure to help my friends, family, and others find the perfect camp match for their child(ren).
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE ESSENTIALS THAT YOU PACKED IN YOUR TRUNK?
1) Awesome stationary
2) Pictures of family and friends
3) Fans, fans and more fans
WHAT ARE THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR CAMP EXPERIENCE?
Memorable, fun and tradition
WHO WAS SOMEONE AT CAMP THAT YOU LOOKED UP TO?
I always looked up to all of my bunk counselors. At the time I thought they were so old and experienced.
WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO GO TO CAMP?
Camp is a great social experience for kids. It teaches them so many necessary life skills; most importantly independence. There is nothing better than the outdoors and experiencing so many “firsts” with some of your best friends. Camp is a life changing experience in so many ways!
HOW HAS CAMP AFFECTED YOUR ADULT LIFE?
Camp taught me so much about friendship, respect and compromise. Living in close quarters with your best friends for eight weeks is very exciting but can be trying at times. In good times and bad everyone always made it through TOGETHER! At the end of the day camp friends are best friends for life!
WORDS OF WISDOM FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE CAMPERS?
Have fun, fun and more FUN! Enjoy every second of camp. On visiting days my parents always told me they wished they could go back to camp. I never believed them but now I understand what they meant. The summers are so short. Try new things, enjoy every gorgeous camp sunset and most importantly relax.
FAVORITE CAMP TRADITION?
Sunday night camp fires and gold rush!
FAVORITE CAMP FOOD?
Fridays were always a good food day at camp; doughnuts for breakfast (LOVED the crumb ones) and pizza for lunch. Of course there were always Gary’s famous chocolate chip cookies (I especially loved the ones served out of garbage cans, to compliment the fried chicken, on visiting day).
FAVORITE CAMP CHEER?
I’ve got the Robindel feeling
POOL OR LAKE?
We only had a lake and I wouldn’t have chosen to have it any differently
FAVORITE ACTIVITY?
Tennis and water ski
