We are so excited to introduce you to Brittany Levin and give you a peek into her unique perspective sending her kids to camp and her passion for the sleepaway camp experience.
WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN TO GO TO CAMP AND HAVE OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCES?
Having never gone to sleepaway camp as a child, sending my own children away for 7 weeks has been a growing experience for me as a mother. My son attended a traditional overnight camp last summer. Watching his confidence and independence grow firsthand allowed me to realize how beneficial this experience is for kids (and their parents). Living away from your family enables kids to realize their own ability to take care of themselves, take risks and foster relationships independently. My son came home a better, more mature version of himself, who now has a deeper appreciation of his life at home and his own ability to step outside his comfort zone (and mine).
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE TO PARENTS LOOKING AT CAMP FOR THE FIRST TIME? WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP FOR PARENTS TOURING CAMP THIS SUMMER?
My best advice would be to listen to your gut and not pay attention to what other people say because if you ask 100 different people you will get 100 different answers. Make sure to stop and talk to the campers – they will be your best source of information☺
ANY WORDS OF WISDOM FOR PARENTS SENDING THEIR KIDS AWAY FOR THE FIRST TIME?
The first summer can be hard, but just remember that you are giving your children an irreplaceable experience that they will always remember. Also, wear big, dark sunglasses to the bus stop!
PACKING/CAMP SHOPPING TIP FOR FIRST TIME PARENTS? YOUR GO TO LABELING STRATEGY?
Be as organized as possible and don’t overpack because it will only overwhelm your child! Listen to the camp packing list, except pack extra socks. They can never have enough. Label, label and label some more! In addition to the regular sew-on or iron-on labels, use a silver sharpie for all dark clothing so you can see it!

Sarah Michelle Gellar because she is my best friend and lives in LA, so 7 weeks in a bunk would be invaluable time together.
